TDJ

       This page is about TDJ, which stands for "The Design Journal". TDJ is a work that train the students creativity through designs and thinking process and for lecturers, it shows the students' creativity and works. The TDJ consists of 6 parts, which are TDJ 1 to 5A and 5B, every TDJ has its own design elements and principles of the week. Students were required to produce an artwork for the design elements and principles of the week, and to write an explanation page to show and prove their understanding.

This is TDJ 1, the element for this TDJ is "Points & Lines" and the principle is "Balance", for this TDJ, we need to prepare 1 artwork for each element and principle of the week.

This is TDJ 2, the element of this TDJ is "Shape" and the principle is "Emphasis/Hierarchy", again we need to prepare 1 artwork for each element and principle of the week.

This is TDJ 3, the element for this TDJ is "Colours" and the principle is "Harmony", in this TDJ we only need to prepare 1 artwork for the element and the principle of the week.

This is TDJ 4, the element for this TDJ is "Geometric Pattern + Texture" and the principle is "Pattern", for this TDJ too, we only need to prepare 1 artwork.

This is the last TDJ, TDJ 5. This is a special TDJ, where we have 2 parts, TDJ 5A and TDJ 5B. In the TDJ 5A, we have to create an artwork from the culture motives of 3 cultures, which are Anglo Saxon, Vikings and Celtic.

And this is TDJ 5B, the last of all the TDJ. In this TDJ, we need to create a file cover for the TDJ Compilation. We need to create the front and back cover, plus the spine for the file used in the TDJ Compilation.

         From this TDJ exercise, I have learned more about design from the research that we need to do for the explanation page that we need to provide. I also learned about how to use your creativity on the designs that you have learned and from this exercise I also have learned and gained so much more knowledge that I can use in the future.

Business project 2

      This is the second project for the subject "Introduction to Business". In this project, we were needed to do a charity drive as a mock business. This charity drive's objective are to train us to do a business as well as to give us an experience on how to do a business, in addition we will also be able to help a charity organisation with the profits we earned from the charity drive.

      We were first told to form a group of 4 to 5 people and these are my group members Kelvin Ng, Stanley Low Jia Cheng, Tsang Hao Ren and Beelly Vun. We were then needed to choose the products we wish to sell for the charity and to find suppliers who can give us the products, as well as sponsors to help us in the charity drive. The charity drive itself will start on the 18th week or last week of our semester, although we can start early but without any booth provided. Finally, we were needed to write a report of the whole event, a charity video, a reflection video, a promotion video and a set up video.

From this project, I have learned about so many new things. It was actually fun and
interesting to be able to learn things I have never learn before and to experience so many things like doing business. It was really hard at first, but as time goes on, I experienced so many things from the charity activity which helped me to learn and also with the help of some of my friends who already have experienced things like this before, I learned things that will really help me in the future.

Psychology Project 2

     This is the subject "Social Psychology". This subject teach us about the social psychology knowledge and skills that we need to learn in order to be successful in our career. And this is the Final project first part, in this project, we were need to form a group of 4 to 5 people, these are my group members, Chew Ung Heng, Edwin Ho and Kevin Lee. We were then needed to choose a topic for ourselves and after that we were told to do a research proposal of a research experiment. Our group chose to conduct a survey, so we were needed to do a research proposal on how we are going to conduct the survey.

      We were then to continue our first part by conducting the survey and prepare a report of the whole survey in the second part. Based on the first part, we were to continue to conduct the survey of our research experiment and prepare a report for it, we conducted the survey in about 10 days and then analysed all the data from the survey. We then arrange all the data we have and proceed to the report, we decided and divided works for each members and work on it. Finally, we also need to prepare a presentation slide based on the data and the report that we have.

From this project, we have learned to work as a team. Business project 1

       This e-portfolio is for the subject "Introduction to Business". And this is the first project, this project objectives are to understand the social and ethical responsibilities of a business, and in this project, we were told to for a group of maximum 4 people, these are my members, Nicholas Yap Wei Ting and Voon Sze Lun. Project 2C

       This is the last project for our subject, DV - "Design Visualization". In this project, we were needed to finalise all of our works, draw it and present it on A2 size boards. We were needed to finalise the drawings and information about our site analysis which helped us to design our toy display box.

       And finally, finalise all the drawings and information of our final toy display box. And after that, we need to draw on a minimum of 2 A2 and maximum 3 A2 presentation boards, we need to design and make it to be as presentable as it can, while at the same time interesting, we also need to prepare the final toy display. The toy display box must be the real one with real sizes and it can be made from anything, last but not least we also need to prepare a photo montage of our toy display box on the site.

From this project, I have learned to be creative to create the toy display box. Because I was using clay to make it, it have the potential to be shaped randomly, but it is hard to shape it. And to design the presentation boards and to fill it with the most important information while still fulfilling the requirement needs creativity the most.

Project 2A

       This DV, "Design Visualization", second project. In this project, we were told to imagine ourselves as a designer and we were going to design a display box for our toy character that we have chosen earlier. This project has three parts, and this is the first part, in this first part, we were needed to analyse the site given to us where we were going put our display box.

       We were also going to work on this project in a group and we are following our project 1 group, so my group members are Chua Jia Cheng, Kelvin Ng, Chew Ung Heng and Tsang Hao Ren. There are a few parts for this project, and we have decided and divided parts for each of us.

      This is DV - Design Visualisation part B. In this project we were needed to individually visualise and draw our final display box that we are going to present to the Toy Company - Lecturers. Final Project

      This is the final project for C&C, "Culture and Civilization". In this project, individually we need to explore the arts, architectures and cultures of some area of culture and create a coffee book table of it, for example, the coffee culture, street food culture, religious buildings, etc. And I have chosen the "Kopitiam" culture, we were then needed to go to 5 places of the culture that we have chosen and take pictures, informations and everything we need to create the coffee book table and finally we also need to write a report.

What I have learned from this project is to fully understand about the project before starting it. In this project, I have made some mistakes by not fully understand about the project, which forced me to take a longer time to finish because of the mistakes. C&C Project 2

       This is the second project of C&C, "Culture and Civilization". In this project we were to form a group of 4 to 5 people, and these are my group members, Chua Jia Cheng, Kelvin Ng, Chia Sue Yi and Kimberly Ee. We were then given a movie full of cultures where we need to act.

       There are some requirements like, we need to prepare the props/costumes ourselves, we need to create a poster, record the performance and write a report. We also need to act only the important scenes, plus we also need some multimedia preparations, so we prepared a video for it.

From this project we have learned to be more creative, we learned that we need to be creative in order to complete and finish this project. We need to be creative every time we are going to work on the costumes and props, it was really hard to complete and finish all those costumes and props, not to mention that we need to be as creative as we can to make it in the simplest way but still looks the same as the one in the movie. EPC 2

         This is the second project for the subject EPC, which stands for "Effective Public Communication". In this project, we were to form a group of 4 to 5 people, and my group members are Chua Jia Cheng, Chew Ung Heng, Tsang Hao Ren and Chua Jiu Xin. After that, we were to compare two businesses of any kind. So, we chose Bak Kut Teh, and just like most people know, if we are looking for a good Bak Kut Teh then the best place to find it is Klang.

         We were also needed to interview the shop owner about everything we need, and the area of interview will be the background of the shop/business, the competitors it faces, the nature of the business, the obstacles or challenges in running the business and finally strategies used. After that, we need to compile all these and set up a powerpoint presentation about it plus we need to throw in some recommendation, future plans and ways to sustain their businesses. Finally, we need to present it and we also need to record our presentation.

From this project, we have learned about some public communication skills that will surely help us in our daily life. EPC

         This subject is EPC, which stands for "Effective Public Communication". In this subject we are going to learn various ways to enhance our public communication skills. And this is the first project, in this project, we need to form a group of 4 to 5 people. My group members are Chua Jia Cheng, Chew Ung Heng and Ameerah Peerun. In this project we were to visit interesting places of our choice and learn about their local culture, local food, local buildings, etc.

Research assignment

      This is the last assignment for the subject English 2. In this assignment, we were needed to find three same businesses, interview and compare them. In addition to that, we also need to write a report on it and create a powerpoint slide because we were going to present it. But before that, we need to form a group of four to five people, so I have formed a group with Chua Jia Cheng, Tsang Hao Ren, Chew Ung Heng, Chua Jiu Xin.

      So we did, we found three bak kut teh restaurants in Klang and we compared them. We have completed the report as well as the powerpoint slide for the presentation and we have presented it as well.

       This is the second project for the subject English 2. This project is an exercise about compare/contrast essay on either "romantic comedies" or "animated films".

       First, we were needed to choose from either "romantic comedies" or "animated films", and then look through the materials published on the genre to gain understanding and information on the topic. We were then needed to choose two movies of the genre and watch it so that we can take any information we need to write the compare/contrast essay.
