Math Project

This is the subject Mathematics, and this is a "Math" project. In this project, We have to do a calculation of a few shapes which are combined together and recreate the shapes. But first, we have to  be in a group of 2 - 3 people, and this is my group:
1. Tsang Hao Ren
2. Edy Wijaya

What we have to do in this project are as follows:
1. Draw all surface area of the object to scale. Show all the dimension clearly.
2. Calculate the total surface area of the object.
3. Calculate the volume of the object.
4. Construct model of the object.

Here is our calculation:

Here is the shape we made:

Formulas used:
1. Area
2. Volume
3. Pythogas
theorem

In this project, I've remembered about the formulas I've learned in high schools, even though I forgot most of them, but as I tried to solve this project, I learned about them again especially those formulas used in this project. I also learned how to solve the problems to recreating the shape, both of these tasks, to solve the question and recreate the shape was really hard, but thanks to Tsang Hao Ren, we could finish this project just fine.

DV project 1B

This is the 2nd project for DV, project 1B. In the 2nd project, we are still in the same group for tutorial purposes but the works we need to produced are still individual. This time, each group were given a 10mx10m site somewhere around our campus, and my group's site is Block A Entrance. We were needed to measure the our site and draw it out. Not just that, we were also instructed to buy a toy for ourselves, a toy that have a good history for our upcoming projects.

We were given the instruction to draw a plan, 2 elevations, a section, a bubble diagram, 2 details (1 site details and 1 toy details), 1 axonometric and 1 perspective drawing of the site. Here are my drawings,

Drawings from Edy Wijaya

From this project, I learned a lot about drawings. There are many types of drawings, and in this project we were instructed to draw some out like plan, elevation, section, etc.  and to learn and draw them has been a fun job to do! The more we draw, the more we learn and improve!

DV project 1A

This is the 1st project of DV, our project 1. In this project, we were trained to draw and to understand about drawings better and better. Even though this project is an individual work, we were grouped into a group of 5 to make the tutorials easier, my group members are Chua Jia Cheng, Kelvin Ng, Tsang Hao Ren, Anthony Chew and me, and our group were give the name BIG, it is taken from the famous "Bjarke Ingels Group", a famous architecture company, the purpose of giving us this name is to help us in this project by referring our drawings to the famous BIG's projects.

We were needed to draw 8 different drawings each on an A5 sketchbook. After we finish our drawings, we need to stick it up to A2 mounting boards, each board with 4 drawings.

Here are the drawings,

From this project, I learned about many drawing types and different ways to draw, I learned about visualizing my imagination. From this, I understand more and more about this subject the "Design Visualization", its requirements and everything related to it.

Design Visualization

Introduction to "Design Visualization"

Design Visualization or we called "DV" is one of the main subject in our 2nd semester. This subject is a subject where we will be lead by our lecturers Ms. Delliya Zain and Miss. Norma Sulaiman, to visualize whatever design or imagination we have in mind.

This subject will help us to prepare ourselves for our Degree and this subject will shower us with knowledges we need for our future, it will help us to understand elements and principles of design, and we to recognise our creativity, self-expression and awareness.

C&C project 1

Greetings to all, this is C&C project 1. C&C as you may know from the introduction page stands for "Culture and Civilisation". In this project, we are to choose 1 group mate and with a group of two, we need to find out each of our family histories, family tree, culture, tradition and etc, and for this project my partner is Ameerah. And then, we need to create a graphical timeline together with our family tree, a 10 mins video of the research that has been done and an A5 info graphic booklet representing our family culture and tradition.

Here's the Video, enjoy,

Here's the timeline,

From this project, I've learned to fully understand the brief first. I also learned to compile and summarised all of my findings before presenting it. And lastly I also learned to be more creative for my work and to enrich my works' content and how to work together with my partner as a good team, I learned to cooperate and share some jobs with her.

                 Taylors University
       Student's TGC Online Portfolio

Name : Edy Wijaya
Course : Foundation in Natural and Built Environments
Intake : April 2013

Hi, I am Edy Wijaya, an international student here in Malaysia. I am now taking Foundation in Natural and Built Environments course April intake at Taylors University Lakeside Campus. This is my TGC Online Portfolio, TGC stands for "Taylors Graduate Capabilities" and this online portfolio is a modernise way of managing our files and also as an evidence of our work. A lot of you must be wondering "why Taylors?" right? Actually it is because my sister studied at Taylors University a few years ago, and from that day onwards I kept hearing Taylors University as one of the best choice among students from my previous high school/secondary school who are going to pursue their study to a higher level. Even one of my previous teachers suggested me to continue my study at Taylors University, and I also chose Taylors University because of the good facilities it provides, the high rate of employability of Taylors fresh graduates, lower tuition fee compared to some other university and Taylors University also provide the course I could not find at some other university. I was also very satisfied when I first arrived at Taylors University, the fact that Taylors University not only provides the things that I listed above, surpassed my expectations. Not only facilities, academic advantages or financial benefits that Taylors University provides, but Taylors University also provides a beautiful and extraordinary campus that is known as Taylors University Lakeside Campus, the beautiful architecture of the Lakeside Campus could even put my mind at ease just by seeing it. Here, take a look at the Taylors University Lakeside Campus

In the course that I am taking now, I have 6 (six) subjects that I need to take in my first semester in order to fulfil the requirement of fulfilling 24 credit hours to move on to the next semester. The subjects and the credit hours are Creative Thinking Skills (3 credit hours), Elements of Natural and Built Environments (5 credit hours), Introduction to the Construction Industry (5 credit hours), English 1 (5 credit hours), Malaysia Studies (3 credit hours) and Moral Education (3 credit hours). And I have 10 (ten) classes per week, which 7 (seven) of them will take place in one of the 20 Lecture Theatres on the campus that were divided for different purposes and the other 3 (three) will take place in different classrooms, like the Design Studio 2, etc.

I think that is all for a little Introduction about myself, brief introductions about Taylors University Lakeside Campus and the course I am taking. I will keep updating my blog, so don't miss anything! Thank you.
